Kyle Andrew Phillips is a dedicated emerging artist living in Hartford, CT. In 2008 he graduated from the Hartford Art School with multiple awards, most notably the prestigious Henrik Mayer Prize. Early in 2009 he had his first solo show Frames of Mine at Brick Walk Fine Art in West Hartford, CT. Exhibited were twenty, oil on panel, trompe l'oeil still life paintings. The show was warmly received thanks to the gracious support of Kevin Rita, Michael Shortell and Gary Knoble.
When Kyle is not painting he teaches Saturday art classes for children at the Billings Forge Community Works. He also teaches non-traditional drawing on Sundays for the High School Visual Arts Classes program at the Hartford Art School. Kyle happily spends most of his time working at Real Art Ways on the café staff.
This fall Kyle will have two back-to-back solo shows is Hartford. First, in September he will be showing a large body of abstract watercolor work at the Charter Oak Cultural Center. Then immediately following in October in conjunction with Artwalk he will exhibit The Admiration Series at the Hartford Public Library. The show will consist of work that pays homage to master painters with writings from Kyle about the artists and their personal and historical influence.
